Orange is Tertiary to Red and Yellow

Sophia’s studio was a splash of chaos and creativity, a canvas of her life’s work where every blotch and smear had a story to tell. She was a curious alchemist when it came to hues, often caught in the rapture of blending the primaries to summon the infinite children of the color wheel. Among these, her favorite had always been orange, a vibrant child, born of red’s passion and yellow’s joy.

“Orange is Tertiary to Red and Yellow,” she would muse aloud while dabbling in her art, an incantation of sorts that reminded her of the harmonious union required to create something uniquely beautiful.

Her art classes were a hit in the neighborhood, but today was not about her students. Today, she was to silence a critic far more persistent than those who visited her galleries — her inner skeptic. It was a voice that crept up on her in silent moments, whispering sweet nothings of doubt and fear, "You cannot paint."

So, she stood before her easel, armed with brushes like a knight with swords, ready to wage war on her inner demon. With each stroke, she channeled her defiance, her brush dancing wildly, fiercely across the canvas. The colors bled and blended, a visual symphony composed with rebellious intent.

If you hear a voice within you say 'you cannot paint,' then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.
— Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890)

And silenced it was, as Sophia's studio filled with the laughter of friends who gathered to witness her triumph. They cheered, half in jest and full in heart, as she brandished her paint-splattered apron like a flag of victory. Alexander, her long-time friend and part-time muse, declared the day a feast, for there was indeed something to celebrate. A battle won, a fear quelled, all manifested in the vibrant hues on the canvas, a riotous declaration that she could, indeed, paint.

Sophia’s laughter was a melody that evening, as the sunset painted the sky in shades of, fittingly, orange. It reminded her of the warmth of a flame, the serene end of a day, and the promise of a new dawn where doubt has no place. And as the stars began to peek from their celestial hideaways, Sophia’s studio still glowed with a light that was all her own.
